Drive C is now drive I, Raid 1

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Needed to reinstall windows with Raid 1 configuration.

Note: I overwrote the harddisk with zeros before doing anything.

Then I had to reinstall windows on one of the hard drives (with no Raid).  The Dell Windows XP disk is slipstreamed with the Raid drivers, so once it is installed, Raid can be configured to Raid 1 and then Windows XP must be reinstalled again. I don’t have a floppy A drive or a windows approved external floppy drive, so this was the best option. Don’t need to use F6 at windows install with this method.

After doing this and loading up windows for the first time, my C drive is now labeled as drive “I” and an internal media drive reader is using drives C, D, E, F. Sure these drive letters can be changed to whatever via computer management -> disk management, but the hard drive letter I cannot be changed via this method or really any method that will leave the system is a good working condition.

So, I opened up the computer and disconnected the media drive reader from the motherboard and disconnected the 2nd cd drive as well (just in case) and reinstalled windows xp again with my raid 1 configuration.

Now, with only the hard drives connected and 1 cd drive, it worked. My hard drive is now drive C. I opened the case back up and plugged the other drives back in and it’s just as I want it with a C hard drive, D, E cd/dvd drives, F,G,H,I media drives, and J external hard drive.

Ford 9N won’t start without starting fluid

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

After a tuneup including plugs, wires, cap, condenser, rotor, gaskets,  points, fan belt, fuel line from tank to solid line including inline fuel filter and shutoff valve, radiator hoses, fresh coolant, oil/filter change (Rotella T 15w40), new oil drain plug/gasket, top off transmission fluid, new shifter boot, new oil pressure guage, the ford 9n / 2n still needs starting fluid to get started (warm or cold, 90% of the time). It will not fire without the starting fluid (ether) sprayed into the air intake of the carb.

Next is to check that the choke is working properly. The pull lever pulls in and out on the dash just fine, it rotates the other end just fine, but… ah ha… the nut is not tight at the other end. Tighten the nut and the level won’t pull out at the dash. The carb choke flapper must be stuck. Try to move the flap by hand and it is stuck good. Remove the carb from the tractor and work on it with WD40 and a small ball peen hammer for about a half hour and it moves easily. Put the carb back on the tractor, pull the choke, and it fires within 2 seconds of cranking. No more starting fluid!

Btw…. carb is a Bendix Zenith model

gluten free coconut waffles

DRY INGREDIENTS (MIX)
1/4 cup buckwheat flour
1/4 cup brown rice flour
1/4 cup millet flour
1/8 cup sweet rice flour
1/8 cup tapioca flour
1/8 cup coconut flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp egg white protein powder (optional)

WET INGREDIENTS (MIX)
2 whole eggs
1 cup hot water
1 tsp heaping coconut cream concentrate
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp maple syrup grade b
Mix up eggs in a medium bowl. Mix coconut cream concentrate in hot water over heat in a sauce pan to make a coconut milk. Add coconut milk to eggs, add in maple syrup and vanilla. Mix very well with wire wisk until layer of foam forms on top.
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add wet mixture into dry mixture and mix with wire wisk. Coat belgium waffle maker with virgin palm oil and cook for 3 minutes or until done. Also make pancakes with the same batter. Add only 1 tbsp coconut flour instead of 2 if making the pancakes, but it will make beautiful pancakes with 2 tbsp also, they just turn out thicker.
